When choosing the best fabric to use for the Crosswind windshirt, one of our main criteria was high breathability. Thus we could not select a fabric which has a layer of coating. Even though coatings provide better protection from wind and rain, it comes at a big price – the ability to transmit body moisture vapors from the inside out is drastically reduced. Many of you might have ran into the issue of excessive moisture on the inside of coated fabrics which occurs even after mild physical activity.
We strongly believe that breathability is a vital component in the performance of the windshirt, both as a standalone product and as a component within a clothing system.
Our core concept is that clothing is not just a passive protective barrier between you and the elements but it is rather a method for achieving a dynamic equilibrium between your body and the outside environment. High breathability prevents moisture from saturating the insulation layer worn under the windshirt, facilitates body temperature regulation and provides better comfort.
